Danish common name: Måne-Vandnymfe

A fairly robust bluet, with a noticeable greenish colour, rather black abdomen and diagnostic pattern on S2 consisting of a black crescent and two dashes. Rather local in much of its range, often in acidic habitats.

Size

Total: 30-33 mm.
Abdomen: 22-26 mm.
Hindwing: 16-22 mm.

Habitat

Well-vegetated pools and lakes, often acidic and nutrient-poor, such as healthy lakes,. Less critical towards the east, where also found in gravel pits and eutrophic ponds.

Flight Season

End of April to late July. Most abundant in May and June.

Range and Status

Relatively rare in Denmark.
