About

The only Cordulegaster species in a large part of western and northern Europe. Easily recognised by the very large size, the black-and-yellow body pattern and the green eyes just meeting in a point on top of the head.

Total: 74-85 mm.
Abdomen: 52-69 mm.
Hindwing: 40-51 mm.

Habitat

Streams and sometimes small rivers, often in forests but also in open moors and heaths.

Flight Season

From end of May to late August.

Range and Status

Relatively rare in Denmark.
