About

This generally rather plain species can be recognised by the paucity of black markings in most of its range, but greater care is needed with identification in coastal Spain, northern Africa and Turkey, where similar species occur. Due to its high variability, identification should be based on examination of the male’s hamule or female’s vulvar scale whenever possible.
