Danish common name: Blå Mosaikguldsmed.

Large and gaudy hawker, it’s dark body inlaid with bright nuggets of apple-green and sky-blue. Typically hunts low down along borders, often in the half-dark, like a phantom.

Total: 67-76 mm.
Abdomen: 51-61 mm.
Hindwing: 43-53 mm.

Habitat

Breeds in wide range of waterbodies, preferring those that are stagnant, small and shaded, often murky with no substrate other than leaf litter, such as garden ponds or forest ponds. Feeds along woodland rides and clearings.

Flight Season

From late summer (July and August) to October.

Common in Denmark.
