A light blue male hawker patrolling the length of a mass of Water-soldier, or a very green female egg-laying in the heart of a rosette of this plant, are the classic images of this large aeshnid.

Total: 65-75 mm.
Abdomen: 43-54 mm.
Hindwing: 38-45 mm.
Habitat
Marshlands, ditches and lakes with sizable masses of Water-soldier.
Flight Season
From late June to early October. Most abundant in August.
Range and Status
Rare in Denmark.
