Danish common name: Stor Kejserguldsmed

A common and conspicuous dragonfly of African origin, which only recently has colonised large parts of northern Europe. Patrolling males are easily recognised by their size, unmarked green thorax and blue abdomen with a black mid-dorsal stripe.

Total: 66-84 mm.
Abdomen: 50-61 mm.
Hindwing: 45-52 mm.

Habitat

Standing waters, often large and well-vegetated.

Flight Season

From late May to September. Most abundant from June to August.

Range and Status

Common in Denmark.
