About
Danish common name: Grøn Smaragdlibel.
Males of this dark, compact, medium-sized species restlessly patrol the edges of ponds and small lakes, with their clubbed abdomen slightly raised. Their flight is fast and close to the waters surface, interrupted by bouts of hovering, when their brilliant green eyes flash up.

Total: 45-47 mm.
Abdomen: 30-39 mm.
Hindwing: 29-35 mm.
Habitat
Standing waters, such as large ponds and small lakes in woodlands, bogs and heaths, but also oxbows, gravel pits, fishponds, sluggish rivers and canals.
Flight Season
From late April to late July.
Range and Status
Common in Denmark.
