About
A rather plain, medium-sized skimmer that is common on running waters in the south. Males become totally blue, females are brown overall. Being somewhat featureless, it is most easily separated from similar species around the Mediterranean by exclusion.
Size
Total: 41-49 mm.
Abdomen: 25-32 mm.
Hindwing: 33-37 mm.
Habitat
Mostly small streams, running ditches and seepages, preferring scantily vegetated sites more than O. coerulescens . Favours bare runnels in the north, e.g. in chalk or marl quarries.
Flight Season
From April to September.
Range and Status
Not yet registered in Denmark.
